DOES HOLISTIC MASSAGE HELP IN THE TREATMENT OF CELLULITE?
Holistic massage helps to detox wastes from the cells of the body flushing out toxins. In this way it improves lymphatic flow and remove excess fluids. It also lowers blood pressure to normal range by improving blood vascular circulation. It tones muscles and firms the skin which will appear better toned and healthy.
LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE MASSAGE
Lymphatic drainage massage combines gentle pressure with soft pumping movements in the direction of the lymph nodes.
The lymphatic system is a secondary circulation which helps support the blood by collecting and filtering excess tissue fluid from cells. Lymphatic drainage can help eliminate waste and thus decongest the skin, improving its tone and texture and reducing puffiness.
It stimulates the lympahtic system, encouraging the removal of waste and toxins. It improves the production and distribution of antibodies and lymphocytes boosting immunity. This drainage clears ccongestion and it is indicated for:
- fluid retention
- swelling (oedema)
Regular sessions are recommended. A good approach to the treatment of cellulite should consist in cycles of 10 sessions (once a week).
Measurements of circumferences of tights and hips are taken at the beginning of the treatments to evaluate changes.
BUT WHAT IS CELLULITE?
Poor diet, hormones and excessive dehydration can damage blood vessels that carry water and nutrients to tissue. When the tissue becomes malnourished, the fat cells change.
The unhealthy blood vessels often begin to leak out excessive amounts of water into the dermis. When this occurs, healthy fat changes its consistency and orange peel skin becomes apparent.Cellulite now begins to grow and take over.
"It is caused by the herniation of subcutaneous fat within fibrous connective tissue, leading to a padded or orange peel-like appearance". (Rossi AB, Vergnanini AL (July 2000). "Cellulite: a review". J Eur Acad Dermatol Venereol14 (4): 251–62)
